METALLICA’S GONNA ROCK THE INDIAN GRAND PRIX

CORRECT THE NAME &NO.

When Sabastian Vettel zoomed past the chequered flag at the illuminated Singapore GP, he almost guaranteed himself the F1 crown for the 2nd year running.

How good he was or rather how bad the other drivers were is a different story. In  a way takes away the sheen from Indian GP, as the race won’t have a major bearing on the championships unless something theatrical happens at the Japanese GP.

But here’s the big 1. All you heavy metal fanatics out there, there is something divine at the GP. You will get a chance to experience trance with the rock idols as Metallica are to play their first ever show on Indian soil on Friday,  28th October as the star act of F1 Rocks in India. Though it is in collaboration with a Vodka brand, but I won’t give details. It’s India and I have fears that my blog might be fined for promoting alcohol!!!

I wish it does not go the Enrique, Akon and Brian Adams way. (The list is not exhaustive; I can go on and on with the concert cancellations at NCR) Rather than adding to the buzz, it pinches away the exhilaration. So please show some MERCY INDIAN GOVERNMENT. Also the airlines, imagine METALLICA losing their gears to the Maharaja. Though calling the Indian carrier Maharaja now is like adding insult to injury.
WILL HISTORY REPEAT ITSELF
The good news never seems to arrest for Indian GP. I do not wish to inflict Bloggers Curse, but there is another marvellous development. The FIA has decided to hold the FIA awards ceremony for the 2011 season (referred to as the formula one gala night) in India at the year end New Delhi is the first Asian city to host these awards and has been chosen above a lot of more popular choices like Monte Carlo, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur. The ceremony is meant to honour World Champions in Formula One, World Rally Championship, Karting and Touring Car.

I desperately hope it goes out well, thought I still haven’t got the tickets yet.

INDIAN GP SANS AN INDIAN AT THE HELM !!!!

From Kolkata in ‘97 to Chennai in ’03. Mumbai in ‘05 to Bangalore. Almost done in Hyderabad in ’07. No these are not the places I treaded, nor are these the Anna Hazare fast sites, these are the places where the much anticipated INDIAN GP was expected to debut. But in India, as you know nothing is certain till it is either completed or screwed. Despite admirable efforts from then CM Chandra Babu Naidu, which cost him his beloved chair, the race went to SADDI DILLI, I mean NCR. Keep those mind wheels churning for some scam in this too.
It’s the 17th race at the F1 calendar. Though 1+7=8 and 8 is not an auspicious number according to numerology, but I won’t get into that. The veracity that F1 is here, swabs out all the cynicism.

FORCE MALLYA

There will be 0.2 million (using million instead of lakh as it adds weight but don’t know why) Indians cheering at the stands, add few thousand staff members and millions watching on TV, but for whom?
Will we have an Indian setting the 5.14 km track ablaze? We surely have the king of good times team- Force India. There is hardly anything Indian in the team except the name. If he is to be believed, Indian drivers lack the class and technique for the gruelling chase. I don’t wish to say this but I agree. Can’t comment on the class part, Mr. Mallya know better which class he is talking about?
But yes, the proficiency lacks. Remember the only points, India’s best F1 racer, Narain Karthikeyen ever won were in a 6 car US GP. He zipped past the chequered flag at the last position.
There will be an Indian or may be 2 at the GP. Narain after getting booted mid season, will be back for HRT, due to the booty he brings in, thanks to hero motors shrewd business acumen. I doubt karun chandok will be that lucky.

 THE INDIAN RACING DUO

Indian or no Indian, for me it will be a heavenly indulgence.  Still trying to catch hold of that elusive ticket. Is that number 8 thing got to do something with this? But I’ll keep trying till I succeed. As the great Michael Schumacher says “team work always wins.” So please help me get the ticket!!!

F1 THE MYSTICAL PASSION

Cars have always caught my fancy. Whether it is a grunting sports car or the classy vintage ones. I see them as magnificence. Aspiring to have 1 of my own, though pacifying my thrill mongering soul with a replica for the time.
Ever seen a car rush from 0-160 kmph in 4 secs. That’s the time I take to start my car engine. The speedy angels at the F1 do this and more. The 80,000 piece maverick machines burning the circuits might sound fun & absorbing, but it makes a driver loose 3-4 kgs every time he turns on the ignition? What if the mechanic of the car got so engrossed in the beauty of a glam gal and forgets to put a piece in the car? I am not sure that the mechanic would get to date the girl, but the driver will surely have to book a bed in the hospital. Trust me restoring a 550 kg, million dollar beauty is not cheap. They don’t even offer discounts there.
Girls drink 8 glasses of water for a glowing skin, but the survival of the souls at the driver’s seat depends on him gulping 8 lts of water before the race.  It’s surely elixir for them.
F1 race feels buzzing, alluring and for me it’s the best thing on earth. (Though my GF would be red after reading this) but I can’t help it, neither I want to. This is what I wish you to sense through me. Once you get into this sport, there is no turning back especially when we are getting our own F1 race.
